Description
What can a man hope for when he’s spent the first sixteen years of his life forced to witness some of the most heinous murders ever committed?
When Cord Archer first meets Mattie Rayne, her smile heats him like the summer sun, bleaching him clean. Nothing else matters except to make her his. Before he can do that, his conscience compels him to explain why he entered an institution at age sixteen and spent five years learning to read, write, and function in mainstream society.
Upon learning that Cord is the son of a notorious psychopathic serial-killer, Mattie realizes how miraculous it is that he survived, much less made it all the way back from crazy. The knowledge only makes her love him more. Just when it would seem Cord is finally about to know love, two phenomenally staggering events irrevocably change the course of his life. First, a sociopath becomes fixated on him. Next, his daddy escapes from prison with the sole intent of tracking him down. Now, anyone in Cord’s life is at risk because the only thing deadlier than a psychopath is the random unpredictability of a sociopath. God help the man who has to contend with both.
Reader Alert!
At eighteen, Mattie Rayne has no idea what it means to be sexually and sensually fulfilled… until she meets Cord Archer. While she’s an innocent, her body responds to Cord with an ancient cellular wisdom. Now, no one but Cord can satisfy her.
To My Readers
When I first sat down to write this story, I intended it to be all about the glorious west. The immense Montana sky. The courageous, driving predilection the American cowboy has for the open-range. Yet, what came out was a gritty, teeth-clenching, dark story about a man who was so abused for the first sixteen years of his life, I almost stopped writing… until I realized this story epitomizes the unstoppable nature of love, and underscores our phenomenally remarkable ability as human beings to overcome any obstacle.
About the Author
I've always believed that writing women’s fiction and romance is a little like cooking. First, I like to lay my hero and heroine out gently on a well-oiled surface, take some seasoning up in my hands and smooth it into them until they’re so flavorful they’re ready to pop. Then I let them steep awhile in a nice marinade. When they're at their most succulent, sometimes I'll put them in a slow-cooking oven and turn them over and over, and other times I'll toss them on a blazing grill to sizzle. Either way, at some point in the story, they are going to devour each other!
I started writing romance in 2010 for two reasons… because I believe in the indescribable ecstasy of romance, and because I want to give readers an experience that provides an escape, lightens the dark, and helps them believe in the luminous, unstoppable nature of love. And so my philosophy has become ‘love is unstoppable’.
My muses are many, including my two cats, Tasha and TalleAnna, and my dog, a bijon-shitsu named Calais. Before I began my writing career, I worked in business and education for many years, and hold a doctorate in a human behavior-related field. People intrigue me. I guess that’s why I love to write about them.
I love early mornings with a steaming cup of coffee, long walks, late night conversations with laughter, wine, great food, and good friends. And my favorite? Deep, long, intense kisses that make a woman remember what it means to be a woman!

Cord’s guts bled fear. He hoped to God the bolt in that old barn wall would hold as Archer wrenched at the rusted shackles around his wrists like a savage.
“If you go through with this, you better hope they pull the lever this time, boy,” the older man snarled. “Last time you tried to turn me in, I got off on a technicality. You remember what happened after that? How I tracked you down?”
Panic spiraled as Archer’s threats wedged themselves in Cord’s ears. He struggled to loosen the rope around one of the girls’ wrists. The girl cowered and kicked o

THIS BOOK IS TRULY AWESOME IF I HAD TO RATE IT ON A SCALE from 1 to10 this BOOK IS definitely a TEN the characters Mattie and Cord had me sitting on the edge most the time and their love for each other is truly a dream love some people search their whole lives for a partner/ relationship like they had. But, the only problem I had was when cord lied to protect Mattie and neither one of them in what fourteen years never got serious about no one else that the part I had trouble with after all it was just a story. Good one I will definitely look into buying more of Rebecca E. Grant booksProduct details

Cradle of Lies edition by Rebecca E Grant Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
Raunchy and should never have been published. Author needs psychiatric evaluation. Sincerely believe that it should never been approved for .
I love Rebecca E. Grant’s book CRADLE OF LIES. I loved her first book LIBERTY STARR, and her second book, CRADLE OF LIES shows her ability to write an entirely different kind of story.
Like LIBERTY STARR, CRADLE OF LIES is about a cowboy. But that is where any similarity between the two stories ends.
A dark, romantic suspense, CRADLE OF LIES will take you to the depths of despair and scare the daylights out of you. And then, as only Grant can do, the story will lead the reader out of the depths in into brilliant sunlight… only to stumble into another twist in the plot, and still another twist… all the while making us ache for the two lovers who belong together, but to whom fate is not kind.
Grant’s tag line is the best I’ve ever read the only thing deadlier than a psychopath is the random unpredictability of a sociopath. God help the man who has to contend with both.
I think what impacted me the most about this book is the way I could never figure out where Grant was going next, or how the story would turn out. And, I don’t know how she did it, but she managed to write about some of the most gruesome things (mass murderers, psychopaths and sociopaths) in a realistic, scare your pants off way, but without it being depressing. In fact, the freshness of Mattie Rayne, Cord’s love interest, just brightens the entire story and breathes fresh air into what otherwise might have been just too dark.
I’m amazed at this writer’s versatility.
A definite five stars on a five star scale, and a must read for anyone who enjoys quality romantic suspense.
Cradle of Lies
Rebecca E Grant
This is the story of Cord Archer, he had the most terrible childhood being raised by his father who was a rapist and murderer. Cord finds that even once his father is in prison his name still attracts unwanted attention. He finally finds a ranch where he can get a measure of acceptance along with 2 possible romances but trouble continues to follow him throughout his life.
I read books for reviews without reading the blurb and initially I thought this was a historical book but it is actually modern covering the whole span for Cord Archer's life. I'm not entirely how you would classify this book as it covers both romance and a kind of murder mystery as Cord seems to attract trouble. I actually really enjoyed it as it went places I really didn't expect. It also had some quite angsty moments as his life falls apart time and time again and I found myself wondering how it could end well, but I won't tell you if it does!
An interesting read I would give this 4 out of 5 stars

After completing this title I was a bit skeptical as to whether I would be able to write a review that would be worthy of such an awesome, exciting and riveting read. I am still trying to recover from the emotional ride that the author took me on. I experienced quite an array of emotions while reading this title. I experienced moments of sadness, happiness and fear.
This was a quite an interesting read which had my attention from the very beginning. The story was well paced. Character development was quite good. I particular liked Cord the main male character. He had been through a lot and yet he chose not to follow the path that had been set by his dad who was serial killer. He, however had to live with the stigma which had a serious effect on his relationship with others.
It was good to see him find love with Mattie and be able to overcome his past.
My least favourite character is Riley.
She was a manipulative and sick person. She was intent on destroying Cord and any happiness he may experience. Due to his experience with his father he was able to recognize what a sick person she really is.
Cradle of Lies is filled with drama. suspense, mystery and romance. It had me turning the pages as I could not wait to find out what was going to happen next. This is a book that keeps you guessing and the answers are quite shocking. It is one of those stories that you will have you talking about it days after you have finished reading.
Cradle of Lies shows that with love, support and determination we can overcome our past and become the best we can be. This is definitely a must read and I would recommend that you get a copy as you will enjoy every moment.
